JK Cement Ltd., invest Rs 400 crore for grinding unit in Madhya Pradesh

The construction and installation activities of grinding unit begun with an investment of around INR 400 crores.

JK Cement Ltd., one of India’s leading manufacturers of Grey Cement and one of the largest White Cement manufacturers in the world have performed the ground-breaking ceremony of its greenfield Grinding Unit in Ujjain District, Madhya Pradesh’s. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Raghavpat Singhania, Managing Director, JK Cement Ltd., Madhavkrishna Singhania, Dy. MD and CEO, JK Cement Ltd and the senior leadership team.

The construction and installation activities have begun at the grinding unit with an investment of around INR 400 crores and a total production capacity of 1.50 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA). This is among the major grinding units in Madhya Pradesh. Currently, the company has two operating units in the state, a greenfield integrated cement plant at Panna which was recently inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan and a Wall Putty Plant in the district of Katni.

Speaking on the company’s expansion Dr. Raghavpat Singhania, Managing Director, JK Cement Ltd., said, “I would like to thank the Government of Madhya Pradesh for their constant support and for giving us the opportunity to be a part of the state’s growth story.  JK Cement is well placed through its capacity expansions, growing regional diversification and expanding portfolio mix to cater to the market needs. It dovetails with our plans of increasing capacity and expanding our outreach in untapped markets in a phased manner to stay in step with the demand growth as it progresses over the years. We plan to increase our cement production capacity to 25 MTPA by FY 2024-25 and have also developed a roadmap for 30 MTPA of cement capacity in the next few years”.

The company plans to scale up its manufacturing capacities for the production of Grey Cement to fulfill the enhanced demand across India. Bolstered with the latest additions including a newly built grinding unit at Hamirpur (Uttar Pradesh) along with its integrated cement plant in Panna, the overall capacity will reach 20.50 MTPA once the Ujjain unit is commissioned. These expansions reinforce the company’s growing footprint in central and northern India and its commitment to accelerate the socio-economic development of the region.

Madhavkrishna Singhania, Dy. Managing Director and CEO, said, “Amid strong demand from rural India and recovery in the infrastructure segment, there has been a sharp rise in Cement demand in the country. As we keep pushing our boundaries, consolidating our market position is a major priority that’s aligned with the company’s vision of sustainable and profitable growth. This will further provide an impetus to the sector and address the demand for Cement in Northern and central India. Through this addition, we will not only continue to contribute towards nation-building but also create numerous employment opportunities in the state.”

Over the years the company has been taking significant measures to aid the social development of local communities with interventions made in the field of primary healthcare and sanitation, skill development, water and energy conservation impacting over 5 Lakhs beneficiaries around its operations. Through its CSR arm, the company has been constantly working towards sustainable infrastructure development of the regions around its facilities.
